Release the Hound Specs & Features
Is this device safe for my pet?
Yes, the Release The Hound device is safe when used as intended. It features a secure locking system and allows the crate to be manually locked or unlocked at any time.
Important: This device should only be used with crate-trained, well-behaved pets. Do not use with animals that are aggressive, destructive, or could pose a risk if unintentionally released. Releasing dangerous pets, intentionally or not, can lead to serious safety issues. Pets should never be left in a situation where their safety depends entirely on remote access. Always use with discretion and good judgment.
Will this device fit on my pet's crate?
Release The Hound is designed to fit on most standard metal pet crates. The device is 1.25 inches wide, so please make sure there is enough clearance between the door and the side of the crate, or between the door and the top of the crate if you plan to mount it on top.
It works best on wire crates with vertical bars and a swinging door. If you're unsure, feel free to send us a photo of your crate. We’re happy to help confirm compatibility.
What size crates does it work for?
Release The Hound works with all crate sizes—from small to extra large—as long as there is a place next to the door (or above it) to mount the device.
As long as your crate has standard wire bars and enough clearance for the 1.25-inch-wide device, you're good to go.
How is it powered?
Release The Hound is powered by a standard wall outlet. We chose this on purpose because the last thing you need is another device to keep charged. No batteries, no downtime - just reliable, always-on performance.
What happens if the power goes out?
If the power goes out, the device will not function remotely, but you can still manually unlock the crate at any time.
